Greater Manchester is set to be hit with cold weather again this week, with a warm spell being brought to an end. The temperature across the region could drop from 11C to 5C in a matter of days, a reminder that winter is still very much here.

The drop in temperature will bring with it a new weather warning for Greater Manchester. So far in 2024, warnings have been for wind and rain, with the new warning set to come in for snow.

The warning covers a large part of England, including all of Greater Manchester. It came into place at 3am on Thursday February 8 and is in place until 3am on January 9.

The current Met Office forecast suggests that there will be sleet showers during Thursday, which could turn more into snow if temperatures drop further. These showers are set to carry on into Friday morning (February 8).
