Thousands of runners and spectators will be looking for the weather forecast ahead of race day

The Great Manchester Run takes place on Sunday May 26, with runners taking to the route as early as 8.30am. A 10k and half marathon route is available, with the start and finish line for both in the same place.

The run comes on a busy day for Manchester city centre. In the evening, Manchester City’s Premier League parade will make its way through the streets, and they could have the FA Cup with them if they are victorious against bitter rivals Manchester United at Wembley on Saturday.

Ahead of the big day, we’ve got a summary of the all important weather forecast. With runners, spectators and football fans being out and about, a lot of people will have their eyes to the sky.

The current forecast shows a dark and drizzly start to Sunday. There may be some showers and plenty of clouds as the first wave of runners reach the start line.

Conditions should improve through the day and some spells of sunshine should be visible at times. Rain showers may linger through the afternoon, however, and anyone watching the race should be prepared.

By around 7pm, shortly before the Man City parade beings, the showers will still be an issue for Manchester. These should ease through the evening, and the day will have a high temperature of 19C with the sun setting at 9.20pm.
