What is the Met Office long range forecast?

The Met Office have issued their long range weather forecast for the period from October 15 to 24.

At the start of this period, we can expect to see clear or sunny spells and showers, perhaps heavy and potentially thundery at times. Unsettled weather can be expected to dominate through this time, with a succession of frontal systems expected to cross the UK as we move through October, bringing spells of rain to all areas.

Some drier, brighter, and showery periods can be expected in between the passing of frontal systems. The northwest is likely to see the greatest rainfall, whereas the southeast will remain drier on average.

Temperatures generally near normal throughout this period, though some chilly nights are possible. Strong winds can be expected in association with frontal systems, with the risk of coastal gales.
