We ask Manchester: Should there be a general election?

We ask local people whether they would like a general election to take place after Liz Truss resigned as Prime Minister yesterday on Thursday October 20.

Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned on Thursday 20 October after a total of 44 days. She succeeded Boris Johnson as PM on September 6 after defeating Rishi Sunak in the Conservative party leadership contest and has stepped down from the role after a month and a half.

She is now the shortest-serving prime minister this country has ever seen and will remain in her position until a new successor has been selected.

We spoke to people in Manchester to find out if they think there should be a general election after the resignation of two Conservative party leaders.
