Prime Minister Liz Truss resigned on Thursday 20 October after a total of 44 days. She succeeded Boris Johnson as PM on September 6 after defeating Rishi Sunak in the Conservative party leadership contest and has stepped down from the role after a month and a half.
She is now the shortest-serving prime minister this country has ever seen and will remain in her position until a new successor has been selected.
