Way Above The Houses: Salford Quays stages spectacular artistic celebration of people and communities

Salford, its people and its communities were celebrated with a stunning show combining dance, music and aerial performances.

Salford was celebrated in truly stunning style with an artistic spectacular featuring live music, dance and aerial acts.

Way Above The Houses was staged at Salford Quays as a collaboration between Quays Culture and Cirque Bijou.

The event, funded by Arts Council England, explored what Salford means to its people and communities and looked at the concept of home.

Things got under way outside The Lowry with a performance featuring local dancers, led by experienced choreographer Lizzie Klotz, creating a kaleidoscope of moving lights using illuminated and colourful umbrellas.

From there, performers and audiences took part in a procession over the bridges and past the Imperial War Museum North to Media City’s Piazza.

There, as the light began to fade, Way Above The Houses came to an extraordinary end with displays of aerial acts, community performers and local voices.
