Manchester leaders have gathered today to pay their respects after the death of Queen Elizabeth.

Manchester City Council Leader Bev Craig and The Lord Mayor Councillor Donna Ludford arrived at St Anne’s Square earlier today to lay flowers at the foot of the Richard Cobden statue and to pay their respects.

Books of condolence have been opened at Manchester Central Library and Manchester Cathedral and the public are invited to sign them.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham also gathered at Manchester Cathedral alongside fellow leaders this afternoon.

Meanwhile a royal proclamation for the new King Charles III will take place outside Central Library at 1pm on Sunday.
