Wagatha Christie libel trial verdict: High Court throws out Rebekah Vardy claim - Coleen Rooney vindicated

The High Court in London has delivered its verdict in the so-called ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel trial involving Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy.

Rebekah Vardy has lost the case after Mrs. Justice Steyn dismissed her claim.

In her judgment, Mrs. Justice Steyn said: “It was evident that Mrs Vardy found the process of giving evidence stressful and, at times, distressing.

“I bear in mind when assessing her evidence the degree of stress she was naturally feeling, given the high-profile nature of the trial, the abuse that she has suffered since the reveal post was published, and the length of time she was in the witness box.”

What happened in the Wagatha Christie libel trial?

The wife of former Manchester United player, Wayne Rooney, accused the wife of Leicester City player, Jamie Vardy, of leaking stories about her to the media.

Mrs. Rooney made the allegation after a story about her appeared in the media.

Mrs. Rooney said the information contained in the story was shared with one person’s social media account, that being Rebekah Vardy.

Mrs. Vardy has consistently rejected the allegations.
