UK Supreme Court to sit in Manchester this week- and the public can attend to observe proceedings

The UK Supreme Court will sit in Manchester this week. The court is based in London but will spend four days in the city starting today (Monday 6).

The court will sit in Manchester’s Civil Justice Centre from Monday March 6 to Thursday March 9. The court will oversee a range of cases throughout the week.

If you are interested in visiting the court to watch the proceedings, this is encouraged. A spokesperson for the court said: “Members of the public are very welcome to attend the court hearings. Anyone wishing to attend the Court’s hearing is advised that there may be a large number of visitors each day.

“Seating in the courtroom will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Visitors wishing to observe Supreme Court proceedings in Courtroom 47 may arrive from 9.30am. Hearings will commence at 10.30am.”

The Manchester Civil Justice Centre is located on A34 Bridge Street West which is off A56 Deansgate, one of the main thoroughfares of Manchester city centre. It can be reached easily by public or private transport.

The nearest tram stop is John Rylands Library, closely followed by St James Square. Both these stops are less than 150 metres away from the Justice Centre.
