A statement on behalf of bosses insisted there was “no specific threat to the event” but that “public safety is our priority”. Halal food is that which fits with Islamic dietary laws with the decision taken given the nature of the far-right demonstrations of recent days.
Greater Manchester Police on Friday said their advice was for people to “remain calm and try and go about your every-day life”. “If we believe there needs to be specific information about anything emerging, we will tell people and offer advice,” a statement continued.

Trafford Centre statement on Halal Food Festival
“With the current situation in the UK, a joint decision has been made with the organisers of the Halal Food Festival, to reschedule the event from the weekend of 24-26 August 2024 to 23-25 August 2025. While there is no specific threat to the event or Trafford Centre, public safety is our priority.
“We are looking to support the organisers in making the event next year bigger and better and those who have already purchased tickets will be contacted directly by the event organisers. We are committed to ensuring Trafford Centre continues to be a safe place to visit for all our guests and brands.”
