Stockport train disruption: what we know as lines reopen but services delayed after emergency incident

There is currently major disruption on train services in and out of Stockport. This is due to a trespass incident, and emergency services are at the scene, although lines have now reopened.
As a result, services passing through the station are being delayed or cancelled. This is expected to remain the case until around 8pm and services will be impacted for at least 60 minutes. Full details have been published and updated on the National Rail website.

Avanti West Coast
Some services between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly may divert via Styal where possible, calling additionally at Stafford. Macclesfield, Stockport and Stoke-On-Trent will not be served.
You may use your ticket on the following services via any reasonable route:

- Transport For Wales
CrossCountry
You may use your ticket on the following services:
- Avanti West Coast between Stafford and Manchester Piccadilly
- East Midlands Railway between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe
- London Northwestern Railway between Birmingham New Street and Crewe
- Northern between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly

You can travel with TransPennine Express and CrossCountry between Sheffield and Leeds where you can connect with TransPennine Express and Northern services between Leeds and Liverpool / Manchester.
Alternatively, you can use Northern services between Nottingham and Sheffield to connect with onward services towards Liverpool. All of these journeys are also available in reverse.
Northern
You can use your ticket on the following alternatives:
- Manchester Metrolink services between Manchester Piccadilly and Altrincham
- Transport for Wales services via any reasonable route

TransPennine Express
You can use your ticket on Northern services via any reasonable route.
