At 4:35am, National Highways tweeted that the M60 was closed in both directions between junction 23 at Ashton-under-Lyne and junction 21 at Chadderton due to a police led incident, adding that Greater Manchester Police were in attendance.

An hour later, the clockwise carriage reopened between Junction 22 and Junction 21.

In their last update at 8:00am the situation remained the same with the M60 remaining closed anti-clockwise between Junction 23 and junction 21 and clockwise between junction 23 and 22.

AA traffic maps confirms this section of the motorway is still closed causing traffic to build-up on the approach to Ashton-Under Lyne.
