Resurfacing work on a key Manchester road will take place from February 19. Work on Princess Parkway will begin at 9pm and be carried out until 5am.

An assessment of the road concluded that the section of road from the M60 Junction 5 off slip through to the junction of Barlow Moor Road is to be fully repaired. The work will be carried out in a collaboration between Manchester City Council and National Highways.

The night work is set to take place from February 19 to 24, with all the work set to take place during the night. During the hours of work, lane closures will be in place and the council has warned motorists to plan journeys ahead of time.

The council has also suggested that people check in with the social media pages and website of Transport for Greater Manchester during the work. Through this, any traffic updates will be made.

Councillor Tracey Rawlins, Executive Member for Environment and Transport said: “I’m pleased that working with our partners in National Highways we have been able to carry out this improvement work sooner than we had expected.

“As a Council we remain committed to improving our highways network and we are confident this latest scheme of work will have a positive impact for motorists. We know this will cause some delays and disruption, but we are grateful for the public’s understanding during the course of works.”
