Huge numbers of Manchester City fans are expected to line the route on the day of the Great Manchester Run.

It’s been another successful season for Manchester City. A fourth consecutive Premier League title win followed a Champions League semi-final and the chance of another FA Cup win against rivals Manchester United is still to come.

To mark their sixth title win in the last seven years, City have announced a parade around Manchester. Transport for Greater Manchester has urged fans to plan their journey into the city carefully with a busy day planned.

On the same day, which is Sunday May 26, the Great Manchester Run will take place. The 10k and half marathon events are due to finish in mid-afternoon, with runners and participants heading out of the city just before the City parade is expected to start.

What are the key times for the Great Manchester Run and Man City’s title parade?

The Great Manchester Run will get underway from around 8am and will be wrapped up by 3.30pm. This is so Deansgate can be prepared for the parade which leaves Cathedral Gardens at 7.30pm, it will then make its way across the city and to Deansgate

During the day, the Metrolink will be operating a 15-minute service on all lines. Stops with more than one service running through them will have trams arriving more frequently. Services are expected to be extremely busy throughout the day and those who can travel flexibly are encouraged to travel when the network is predicted to be at its quietest.

What has Transport for Greater Manchester said about the events?

Steve Gilholme, Head of Service Delivery at TfGM, said: “It’s going to be a huge day for the city with the blue side celebrating another season of phenomenal success while the Great Manchester Run is sure to be as fantastically popular as ever. “It will be an exceptionally busy day on the transport network with tens of thousands of fans, runners and race spectators making their way to the city centre over the course of the day. I would strongly encourage people to ‘travel smart’, whether they’re coming into town for the parade, race or making their way to a different destination.
