Storm Lilian: Greater Manchester Metrolink lines resume following suspension caused by strong winds
Strong winds are causing travel issues across Greater Manchester this morning
Several Metrolink lines are currently suspended due to trees falling on lines and overhead lines as a result of Storm Lilian. The disruption comes as several big events take place in Manchester today.
Day three of the England v Sri Lanka Test match at Emirates Old Trafford and the start of Manchester Pride will see thousands of people moving across the city. Journeys to these are set to be affected by the wind.
Customers can use their tickets and passes on any Bee Network services or Stagecoach bus services. Northern Rail are accepting tickets to Altrincham, Manchester Airport and Rochdale Railway Station.
Met Office weather warning
The Met Office has a yellow warning for high winds across Greater Manchester until 11am. Gusts of over 40mph are expected.

A TfGM spokesperson said: “Strong winds from Storm Lillian are causing disruption on the transport network this morning (August 23)
“A number of trees have been brought down by the storm across the Metrolink network leading to a number of lines being suspended and we are working to get all lines re-open as soon as possible. We are urging everyone to check their journey before they travel today.
“There is also disruption on the roads, which is impacting some Bee Network bus services, and disruption to rail services.
