Manchester City are flying high again this season, with thousands of fans descending on the Etihad Stadium every home match. The stadium is in a part of Manchester which will soon be added to with the opening of the new Co-op Live in April 2024.

Getting to the stadium on a matchday can be tricky, with large numbers of fans on the roads and tram network eager to get inside for the match. With parking limited around the stadium and the roads likely to be full of fans heading to the match, public transport and park & ride are options which are encouraged.

With this in mind, here are the best public transport options for getting to the Etihad Stadium on a match or event day. We’ve included the nearest tram stops to the stadium and also park & ride stops which are available for use.

As with all Manchester venues, the Etihad is well connected via public transport. If you’re a local, this will likely be common knowledge, but it may be of some use to those of you not from the area and are coming into Manchester for the football or an event.

Metrolink stops near Etihad Stadium

The location of the Etihad Stadium means that several stops on two Metrolink lines are within a reasonable walking distance. The obvious one is of course Etihad Campus, which serves both the stadium and the university campus.

Other options for particularly busy days are Holt Town and Velopark stops. Holt Town and Etihad Campus are on both the Eccles- Ashton-under-Lyne and Media City-Etihad Campus lines, whilst Velopark is just on the Eccles line.

Extra peak services will run from MediaCity to the Etihad Campus until 8pm Monday to Friday and until 6.30pm on Saturdays. This change will help gig event goers getting to the Etihad Campus from across Manchester.
