Manchester has its fair share of famous faces and a long list of clichés about what it means to be from the city.
But we don’t all listen to Oasis, long for the Hacienda or religiously follow United or City - so we’re here to point out the everyday things that those living and breathing life in the city know all about.
Whether it’s taking a seat in Piccadilly Gardens down the years or racing through the nearby station to reach platform 13 or 14 - we’re sure there’s stuff you can relate to in this lot.

1. Pointed out the former Hacienda to visiting non-Mancs
Whether you were there or not, the legacy of the Madchester era and the glory days of the Hacienda nightclub are an important part of this city’s history. The club is now a block of flats, but if you’re wandering down Whitworth Street, it is always worth pointing out this important cultural landmark. (Credit: Google Maps) | Google Maps

3. Got or considered getting a Manchester bee tattoo
The symbolic worker bee can be seen on every street corner in Manchester and is a symbol of the city’s industriousness. There was a boom in Manchester bee tattoos in 2017 following the arena attack. Tattoo studios across the city were offering discounted Manchester bee tattoos as part of a fundraiser for the victims and their families. 4. Seen a member of the Coronation Street cast IRL
When they’re not on the cobbles of Weatherfield, which is filmed at the ITV studios at Salford Quays, the cast of Coronation Street are ordinary Mancunians like us, which means you’re bound to spot one of them out shopping or at a restaurant at some point. (Getty Images) | Getty Images
