A luxury wellbeing resort is set to open in Trafford in 2025.
Therme Manchester will feature 25 indoor and outdoor pools, 35 waterslides and more than 30 saunas and steam rooms - all set in tropical surroundings among 1,500 palm trees. A 28-acre site is now being developed opposite the Trafford Centre, with a schedule for opening in 2025.
And owners the Therme Group say they expect to attract lots of people looking for staycations among the anticipated 1.5m guests a year.
The resort will also offer dozens of fitness classes a week, plus swim-up bars, a relaxation area and a warm water lagoon around a botanical garden.
And it will be surrounded by a 10,000sqm garden in the shape of a rose.
There’s also a hydroponic (non-soil) farm and beehives on the roof to provide honey used in beauty treatments.
Richard Land, chief development officer of Therme Group UK, said: “Therme Manchester will redefine city wellbeing, enhancing mental and physical health through an experience based in water and nature. Therme Manchester will offer a unique holiday at home, that acts as a catalyst for healthy lifestyles.”
Therme has resorts in a number of countries across Europe, America and Asia but says Trafford will be the UK’s first city-based resort of this size. It is estimated the development will create hundreds of jobs.
