Applications for a huge hotel extension near Manchester Airport and plenty of new homes have been submitted in Greater Manchester this week.

One application sees a swingers’ club planned in Bolton. Frequent flyers will have more options to choose from if Clayton Hotel is approved.

The hotel sits opposite the third busiest airport in the UK and is looking to add more than 200 new bedrooms to their already massive site.

Outside the Manchester borough there were plenty of housing applications submitted as the need for more homes is still sky high in the county.

Swingers club with 18 bedrooms, sauna and ‘massage area’ approved within aquarium building

A swingers club with 18 bedrooms, a sauna, cinema room and dance floor housed in an aquarium building has been approved by Bolton Council. 

The private members club now has permission to operate on the site of Dave’s Aquarium, Folds Road, Bolton. Planning documents lodged on behalf of applicant Peter Hemingway show the club will be built within the site of Dave’s Aquarium and Dave’s Angling Superstore, both established businesses also owned by Mr Hemingway.

New petrol station, drive-thru takeaway and ‘food-to-go’ units planned 

A new petrol station, drive-thru takeaway and ‘food-to-go’ pods are planned for a car showroom site just 300 yards from Bury town centre.

A planning application lodged this week reveals the plans for the ‘Car Time’ show room and car park on Bell Lane. Applicants Pearl Forecourts Ltd wish to transform the ‘prominent location’ and say ‘the site is ideal for roadside services as it is located along a main road and among numerous ‘traffic builders’ including the town centre and Moorgate retail park’.

A huge extension could see 216 new bedrooms added to hotel opposite Manchester Airport 

Clayton Hotel is looking to build a nine storey extension to their site opposite Manchester Airport containing 216 bedrooms.

Owners Dalata Hotels explained in the planning documents this would be paired with their expansion of the catering facilities on the ground floor. The extension would contain 104 double rooms and 112 twin rooms.

Huge new logistics and industrial hub plan for Salford. Plans have been submitted for a huge logistics and industrial hub in Salford.

Peel Waters has put forward the scheme for the 100,000 sq ft development on a brownfield site previously used as a waste recycling facility off Liverpool Road in Eccles. Peel says the site ‘designed to Grade A specification’ would be split across eight units raining from 4,338 sq ft to 40,000 sq ft ‘providing a range of industrial and logistics space to suit a variety of businesses’.

 New bid to convert large terraced home into HMO

A plan to convert a large terraced home into a house of multiple occupation (HMO) in the Eccles area of Salford has been submitted.

The property is on Park Bank, off Liverpool Street and is currently a four-bedroom home. Applicant Steve Lang wants full planning permission to convert the house into a seven-bed HMO.

Office floor could be transformed into apartments. The second floor of an office block off Warren Street could be converted into five apartments.

Alexandra House would become home to two, two-bedroom apartments and three one-beds, if Ladson Group sees their plans approved. The site is located within Stockport town centre.

Only smaller applications have been submitted to Tameside Council this week. The plans included house extensions, a small coffee shop takeaway unit and modifications to plans already approved by the council.

Huge HMO could be transformed into nine apartments. A 16-bed house of multiple occupation (HMO) could become a complex of nine apartments, if plans submitted to Trafford council are approved.

The application is for a property on Stretford Road in Old Trafford and has been submitted by Stretford House Developments Ltd. It also includes accommodation for cycle and bin storage and landscaping.

Six new detached homes planned for Whelley

A total of six new detached homes could be built in the area of Whelley just outside Wigan town centre.

Plans put forward by Peter Dickinson Architects on behalf of Mrs Lesley Walker would see all the four-bedroom homes built off Wigan Road. Each home would have a minimum of three off-road car parking spaces.
