The results of the NHS GP Patient Survey 2023 are in and there are mixed reviews nationally and in Greater Manchester.
The survey is produced annually by Ipsos on behalf of NHS England and aims to ascertain how satisfied patients are with their GP surgeries. This year, 2.7million took part in the survey, which was carried out between January and April.
Nationally, the majority of participants (71.3%) reported ‘very good’ or ‘fairly good’ experiences at their GP practices, however this is the lowest it has been in six years. At the same time, the number of participants that reported having a ‘fairly poor’ or ‘very poor’ experience is the highest it has been in six years, up 0.6 percentage points from last year.
Results for Greater Manchester surgeries contain the full range of satisfaction levels. On one end of the spectrum, there’s Marple Bridge Surgery with 99.4% of patients reporting an overall ‘good’ experience. And leading the list of worst-rated surgeries is Werneth Medical Practice, with 45.5% of patients describing their experience as ‘poor.’
