The 10 Greater Manchester areas with the biggest rises in Covid infections

Which areas have recorded an increase in the latest figures?

Weekly coronavirus cases have been creeping up across the UK since the start of August, with the rolling seven-day average rising for six consecutive days.

Analysis by Manchester World shows Covid cases rose in 164 out of Greater Manchester’s neighbourhoods in the week to 6 August. In 172 other areas of Greater Manchester, the cases per 100,000 people had fallen.

The neighbourhoods included in the data are middle super layer output areas (MSOAs), small geographic units used in government statistics.

Here are the 10 areas with the biggest increase to 6 August:

- High Lane, Stockport: 535 cases per 100,000 - up 244%.

- Ashton Central, Tameside: 451.2 cases per 100,000 - up 145%

- Horwich East, Bolton: 359.8 cases per 100,000 - up 144%

- Rumworth South, Bolton: 203.6 cases per 100,000 - up 143%

- Woodley, Stockport: 527.3 cases per 100,000 - up 131%

- Daubhill & Fernhill Gate, Bolton: 175.9 cases per 100,000 - up 117%

- West Timperley, Trafford: 367.2 cases per 100,000 - up 113%

- Westhoughton Daisy Hill: 252.7 cases per 100,000 - up 111%

- Baguley West & Brooklands, Manchester: 313.9 cases per 100,000 - up 108%

- Royston East & Cowlishaw, Oldham: 499 cases per 100,000 - up 100%
