This year, Stoptober is calling on smokers in England to join the 2.3 million who have made a quit attempt since the campaign launched in 2012. The annual campaign is based on research that if a smoker can make it to 28 days smoke free, they are five times more likely to quit for good.

Charlotte Higgins, 27, from Bury, had been smoking for 8 years when she successfully quit in 2019. After numerous failed attempts of trying to quit smoking on her own, she decided to join the Stoptober campaign.

Having now stopped smoking for two years, Charlotte is encouraging others to do the same.
