If you use Stagecoach buses to get around Manchester, you might be soon sitting on a brand new bus. The operator has announced a fleet of 30 new low emission buses are to be launched on December 4.

The latest batch of new buses come as part of a £7.5 million investment in greener travel by Stagecoach Manchester. These buses will be mainly used on routes 216 and 219 from the start of the month.

These buses join 15 new vehicles that entered service in the Summer of 2023. These summer buses have been mainly on services 201 and 203 across the region.

The new buses have been manufactured in the UK by Alexander Dennis. They feature Euro VI engines, which are significantly cleaner engines helping to cut carbon emissions. This investment means that Stagecoach will remove older buses from its fleet, benefiting local air quality.

In an effort to make customers' journeys more relaxing, the new buses also have CCTV and audio-visual next stop announcements. There will also be USB charging points on board.

Rob Jones, Managing Director of Stagecoach Manchester said: “We’re delighted to be introducing more new, low emission buses. They really are a testament to our ongoing commitment to the Greater Manchester region, ensuring that everyone in our local communities can benefit from greener public transport.”
