Snow hits Greater Manchester with delays on roads including M62

It was only a day or two ago that Greater Manchester was bathed in warm sunshine and temperatures of 18C.
But parts of the city-region woke up on Thursday to a dusting of snow as March ended with sub-zero temperatures.

Hide AdResidents in Oldham, parts of Tameside and Manchester and beyond have been sharing snaps of the white stuff this morning - while the icy conditions have been playing havoc on some roads.
There are reports of heavy congestion on the M62 between junction 24 near Huddersfield and junction 21 the Milnrow interchange this morning due to snow.
There have also been reports of an accident between junctions 22 and 21, meaning tailbacks are estimated at an hour.
Transport for Greater Manchester is also warning of icy roads and potential delays on the bus network and is asking people to allow extra time to make journeys - and take care if driving.

Hide AdThe Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for ice covering a large swathe of eastern Scotland, north-east England and Yorkshire on Thursday morning - and said more warnings could follow, with a similar chance of snow showers on Thursday night and Friday morning.
