The usual end of May bank holiday has been moved back to Thursday 2 June and an additional Bank Holiday on Friday 3 June means a four-day weekend for many workers.
The Government announced the plans as a special one-off event to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.
However, a campaign to make it a permanent arrangement and give UK workers entitlement to an extra bank holiday every year has been gathering steam.
We asked people on the streets of Manchester for their thoughts.
