With the country gearing up for a Queen’s Jubilee double bank holiday at the start of June, we asked people in Manchester if they want to see it become a permanent fixture.

Many of us are looking forward to an extra long weekend this summer courtesy of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The usual end of May bank holiday has been moved back to Thursday 2 June and an additional Bank Holiday on Friday 3 June means a four-day weekend for many workers.

The Government announced the plans as a special one-off event to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne.

However, a campaign to make it a permanent arrangement and give UK workers entitlement to an extra bank holiday every year has been gathering steam.

We asked people on the streets of Manchester for their thoughts.
