New for this year, the spooktacular rink will see a frightfully realistic giant spider take centre stage, wrapped in a bright white LED light web around the sparkling Christmas tree centre piece. Fancy dress is encouraged as skaters are invited to capture those all-important photo worthy moments on the ice.

Friends and families visiting the rink this season can expect Halloween-themed music, lighting and themed props to ignite the fright factor. The perfect half term activity, Scare Skate 2023 is set to be one of the highlights of Manchester’s spooky season.

Following the opening week of Scare Skate, the ghoulish spider will go into hibernation and a dazzling seven-metre-tall Christmas tree will take centre stage, transforming Cathedral Gardens into the ultimate winter wonderland.

Kelly Baker, Director, Managed Ice Rinks, who coordinates the event said: “Halloween is an integral part of the Manchester calendar, and we are thrilled to see Scare Skate play an important part in the city celebrations for another year. Scare Skate is the perfect activity to bring the family together this season and we are looking forward to celebrating Halloween in the Cathedral Gardens grounds before transforming the rink into a winter wonderland in November.”
