Man City’s Erling Haaland has made his mark on the pitch for his new club this season. Yet he’s also becoming talked about for his antics in other walks of life.

The striker, signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer, has now scored 52 goals in all competitions. This has pushed City to the verge of a historic treble victory of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

Following Cit’s 4-1 win against Arsenal on April 26, a victory which set them on course for another Premier League title win, Haaland went viral after being pictured with former Oasis star Noel Gallagher who had dropped into the Man City dressing room after full time. Just why was it so popular? The striker was in nothing but a pair of white Y-front pants.

In one nationwide store, this has led to a huge increase in sales of the classic underwear. The Original Factory Shop have said they are seeing a 45% week-on-week increase in the old-fashioned favourite- an increase which they are crediting Haaland with the rise in popularity.

Tracy Ford, chief merchandising Officer at TOFS, said: “Y-fronts have faced strong competition in the past from boxer shorts, but Erling Haaland has sparked a revival in interest in this traditional menswear staple.”

After the City match, Gallagher spoke to TalkSport about the experience. He said: “I’ve just been with him in the dressing room and he’s like a young kid.

“He’s walking around in his underpants telling me he can’t wait until I meet his uncle, who I’ve never met. He’s gutted he’s not scored a hat-trick. He’s like a big, mad child. He is an incredible footballer.”
