‘Running Manchester Marathon is my way of saying thank you’

This Sunday will see thousands of runners take to the streets in the city as part of the Therme Manchester Marathon - we spoke to one man to find out his special reason for taking part.

Father of two Michael Baranowski is one of 32,000 runners taking on the the 26.2 mile challenge this weekend.

He will be running the marathon to raise money for Saint Mary’s Hospital Charity, in particular, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Wythenshawe Hospital, to say thank you for the help he and his family received when their son Cillian was born four and a half years ago.

Michael has since smashed his £1,000 target and is now nearly at £10,000, via his JustGiving page.
