Malmaison Hotel: Retro inspired and pet friendly new four star boutique hotel is heading to Deansgate

A brand new, pet friendly and four star boutique hotel is preparing to open its doors just off Deansgate and should be a huge hit with lovers of all things retro.

The new Malmaison Manchester offers two dining options across the Malmaison Bar & Grill and Sora sky bar and restaurant with an intimate rooftop terrace for taking things al fresco.

For retro fans, there’s the chance to sleep in one of 70 rooms and suites that pay homage to the designs of the 60s and 70s - referencing the iconic G Plan furniture of this era and complimenting the building’s façade, with bold patterns, powerful colours and striking artwork.

The hotel will be home to the second Sora location in the UK serving guests mix and match small plates of sushi, Robatayaki and Pan-Asian style tapas dishes with signature cocktails with views of Albert Square and the historic architecture of Manchester Town Hall, while the hotels boutique interiors will explore themes from art and agriculture to travel and The natural world.

The hotel is also joining a trend-setting partnership with eco-period product innovators Freda which provides their sustainable period products to guests for free.

This initiative makes Malmaison, along with sister brands Hotel du Vin and Frasers Hospitality the first nationwide accommodation providers in the UK to provide free period products to guests in addition to their existing in-room amenities, without guests having to ask for them.

Other amenities include meeting spaces, 24-hour reception, complimentary Wi-Fi, laundry services, electronic safes and ironing facilities.

The new hotel opening directly follows established hotel The Malmaison at Piccadilly enjoying a recent renovation to give it a fresh make-over.

The refurbishment of the long serving hotel, situated in walking distance of Piccadilly Station, includes the addition of a refreshed bold colour scheme and intimate seating options interspaced with new artwork - including pop art style portraits feature famous Manchester icons including cartoon superhero Danger Mouse - and feature pieces inspired by Manchester’s art and design heritage.

The refurbishment of 60 of the hotel’s 167 bedrooms including five corner suites combines design influences from Manchester’s iconic history with subtle nods to the origins of the building itself, formally a Joshua Hoyle and Sons Cotton factory, an industry pivotal in putting the city of Manchester firmly on the map.
