Tameside General Election results: Angela Rayner re-elected in Ashton-under-Lyne as Labour storm to landslide

Angela Rayner was re-elected as MP for Ashton-under-Lyne as Labour headed for a landslide General Election victory.

All roads point to the party’s deputy leader now being confirmed as Deputy Prime Minister in the coming days. She won 15,575 votes with Reform’s Robert Barrowcliffe in second ahead of Lizzie Hacking for the Conservatives.

Over in Stalybridge and Hyde, Jonathan Reynolds held the seat for Labour.

  • Robert Hodgetts-Haley – Green - 2,745
  • Barbara Kaya – Reform - 7,781
  • Kamala Kugan – Liberal Democrats - 1,080
  • Ian Owen - Independent - 1,214
  • Audel Shirin – Workers Party - 1,227
  • Jonathan Reynolds – Labour - 16,320 - elected

Turnout - 51.69%
