Rochdale General Election results: George Galloway loses seat as Labour's Paul Waugh takes victory

George Galloway’s stint as Rochdale MP has proved to be a short one after Labour’s Paul Waugh took victory in the General Election.

Galloway of the Workers Party had won a landslide victory picking up nearly 40% of the votes in February and was looking to defend the seat. But as Labour marched toward an almost unprecedented landslide, Waugh took the seat for Sir Keir Starmer’s party by around 1,500 votes.
