Police investigating and launching appeal after man involved in road traffic collision in Rochdale dies

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for information after a man who was involved in a road traffic collision in Greater Manchester died.

The pensioner, a man in his 80s, was involved in an incident with a van in Rochdale at around 11am on Friday 3 February. The collision happened on Hare Hill Road in Littleborough.

The man left the scene with apparently minor injuries but was taken to hospital later that day. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said on Sunday (19 February) that the man has died and an investigation has now been launched. No arrests have been made so far and police enquiries are ongoing.

Police Sergeant Phill Collingwood, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We believe that witnesses stopped at the scene to assist the pedestrian and informed him that they had witnessed the collision.

“We are appealing to anyone who assisted him or who may have witnessed the collision to come forward and contact police.“
