The Man City fan who was the first in the world to sell women’s football shirts

Helen Hardy founded Foudy’s in Stretford after struggling to get her favourite City women’s player’s name on a shirt at the club shop.

A pioneering Manchester businesswoman says she’s thrilled to see more people talking about women’s football following England’s success at Euro 2022.

Helen Hardy founded Foudy’s in Stretford after struggling to find women’s club kits - and hers was the first company in the world to specialise solely in women’s football products.

She is also founder of inclusive club Manchester Laces, and alternative grassroots league, the AF league.

Helen was also recently honoured for her trailblazing efforts by being asked by Visa to present the Player of the Match Award at a Euros game at Manchester City Academy Stadium.

Helen said: “I was honoured to have presented Sari Kess with Player of the Match. It’s a really exciting time for women’s football, and this year’s UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 tournament provided the women’s game with the spotlight it deserves.”
