Piccadilly Gardens stabbing: man taken to hospital after incident in Manchester city centre

A man was taken to hospital with stab wounds following an incident in Piccadilly Gardens.
Greater Manchester police were called to the area at 4.45pm on Monday.

Hide AdA police spokesman said: “Officers attended and a male in his 20s was located with two stab wounds and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be serious.”
The gardens were cordoned off with police tape following the incident, and a 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and affray.
Coun Pat Karney, who is city centre lead for Manchester City Council, tweeted that there was a ‘gang argument and knife pulled’, adding that he was confident CCTV covering the gardens would assist the police investigation.
It comes two months after another violent incident at the Gardens, where police put in a dispersal order after dozens of youths were caught fighting in the square.
