Tyson Fury could face Andy Ruiz Jr in a UK-based boxing match this summer, says boxing promoter Bob Arum.

The current WBC heavyweight champion, 34, was set to fight Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, 36, in a heavyweight unification bout this month but it was called off after they both failed to agree on various terms.

Now, Arum is eager to find the Gypsy King another opponent to take on in the UK this summer.

Speaking to Cornerman Boxing about Fury’s next opponent, the Top Rank promoter said: “He’s been in Italy on vacation with his family, and he’s back in England, and we’re talking to him, and we’re looking for the best available guy for him to fight this summer in the UK.”

He added: “Maybe it’ll be Andy Ruiz or somebody like that.”

Andy Ruiz Jr, 33, is an American-Mexican professional boxer, who stole the unified world heavyweight champion title from England’s Anthony Joshua in August 2019.

However, Joshua went on to reclaim his titles six months later - beating Ruiz Jr in their rematch.

The Mexican - who weighed in at 283lb, 15lb heavier than their first fight - later admitted to under-preparing for their fight.

Ruiz Jr has had 35 wins and just two losses, compared to The Gypsy Kings 24 wins, nine losses and one draw.
