Childcare can cost thousands of pounds each year for the average household - especially for children too young to be in school.

For some families, grandparents step in to babysit and take care of the children when needed. Others have to rely on childminders, after-school clubs, a nanny, or other childcare which can cost up to - and over - £7,000 per year, according to Money Helper.

Since childcare can be a full-time responsibility for some grandparents, we asked Mancunians whether they should be paid to look after their grandchildren.
