I've made cakes for stars like GK Barry and Molly Mae but I just want to be known by fellow Mancs
Jenny Rose, 32 from Denton started her Meet Cute Cakes business after being made redundant in 2020 and has since attracted some well known faces.
On starting the cake business, Jen said: “We had just bought our first house so we had a mortgage to pay for the first time and to make some quick cash I thought I’d do some postal treats. During that year people weren’t seeing each other but they were sending each other gifts, so we did that online and it just took off.”
Meet Cute Cakes now has 15.7K followers on Instagram with one video reaching nearly 20M views.
Jen said: “It’s just stopped and has got crazier and crazier. Losing my job was terrifying but 100% the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Jenny makes each cake bespoke to the customer and their desires. Their most popular cake is a vintage heart cake with regal vintage piping.

One cake which helped Meet Cute Cakes take off was the cake made for Love Island star Claudia Fogarty featuring her famous line “you can’t have your cake and eat it” with pink and cream icing which went viral.
Jen said: “I swear to God for the next year following, all I made was pink and cream cakes! When people saw it they loved it and that was a lesson to us to just get one design out there that we’re good at.”

This led to Jenny making cakes for brand like Crocs, JD Sports, and Pretty Little Thing. Not to mention, the celebs that have just kept on coming with the likes of Charley Marlowe, Vincent Kompany and Molly Mae being amongst those that Jenny has created a cake for.
Jen said: “One of our recent posts was liked by Julia Fox, Chrissy Teigen and the Jonas Brothers. We had Katherine Ryan put one of our posts on her story. It’s just little things that are exciting that I never had on my bingo card.”

Despite all of the attention from stars, Jenny is keen to gain support from one particular group of people.
She said: “I think my main goal is just to be more established in Manchester so that when you think of cakes in Manchester, we’re one of the first names you think of.”
