Helen Flanagan admits she had to “dig deep” to allow her children to spend the day with their dad, Bristol Rovers star Scott Sinclair, after she had already spent four days without them. The former Coronation Street actress, 32, split from the midfielder in October last year, after a 13-year relationship.

On Friday (26 May), Helen jetted off to the Spanish party island of Ibiza, and her three children - Matilda, seven, Delilah, five, and Charlie, two - stayed with Scott’s mum, who Helen said she has a “really nice relationship” with, whilst the footballer was also away on holiday.

The I’m A Celeb star was meant to pick up her three children yesterday (30 May), however Scott asked to spend the day with them, after his schedule cleared up. He took to Instagram to show his 228,000 followers a picture of him enjoying an ice cream in the sun with his children.

Helen later took to her Instagram Story to explain to her one million followers: “I was supposed to be seeing the kids today but then Scott, because he only gets his time off around football and stuff, said ‘well I want to see the kids for the day’, which I really had to just dig deep because obviously I really miss them. When I’m not with my kids, I do feel a little bit alone, a little bit lost.”

The former Coronation Street actress added that she can’t always be open about “different aspects” of her life because Scott is a “really really private person”. She continued: “Even though I’m such an open book, I can’t share as much because he’s just really private”.
