Helen Flanagan has baffled fans after seeming to avoid eating meat on her first night in the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

The former Coronation Street actress, 32, is taking part in the first ever all-star edition of the popular reality show, following on from her seventh place finish in 2012.

On the first episode of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, which aired on Monday (24 April), Helen took on her first ‘horrendous’ challenge alongside Fatima Whitbread and Phil Tufnell.

The trio failed to get their stars but the other celebrities were all successful, meaning the campmates had to share just six meal portions between the group.

In last night’s (25 April) episode, it was revealed they would tuck into wild kudo (a large woodland antelope), pumpkin leaves and mugambi for their main course, and capsicum and tamarillo fruit for dessert.

Helen offered to have just ‘rice and beans’ as she didn’t win her star in the first challenge, and when the meal was ready, she was seen eating everything but the antelope meat.

Whilst the celebrities tucked into the dish, the blonde beauty asked if the “the meat is nice”, to which Shaun Ryan and Jordan Banjo agreed it is - despite it needing a bit of flavouring or salt.

Fans soon questioned whether the mother-of-three is “vegetarian”.

One Twitter user wrote: “Why isn’t Helen eating the meat? Is she vegetarian? #ImACeleb”

Another asked the same question, writing: “Is Helen vegetarian? She’s not eating meat."

Helen also spoke about the “pressure” of being the camp chef alongside Carol Voderman.

Helen said: “Maybe it wasn’t the right decision to put myself forward for the chef. There is so much pressure and expectation on the food because it’s like the food is just so previous here.”
