George Foreman believes that Tyson Fury is “the best thing going in boxing” and revealed who the professional boxer should fight next. The Texas-born former professional boxer, 74, also added that The Gypsy King would have “done well” in his era - the 1980s and 90s.

Foreman said: “The one fight I want to see before I close my eyes out of boxing is Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua. Anthony Joshua is the only guy who can give Tyson Fury a terrible fight – a good fight.” The Olympic gold medalist continued: “Right now, Tyson Fury is the best thing going in boxing, but I love that. Those two guys keep me excited about boxing.”

The American, who fought professionally in the heavyweight division from the age of 20 to the age of 38, added: “That Tyson Fury would have done well in any era. It doesn’t matter who, what, when or where, he would have done well.” Foreman won 76 of his 81 fights, from his debut in June 1969 to his final fight - which he lost - in November 1997.

Foreman, in collaboration with Russell Hobbs, founded the George Foreman Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine (known as the George Foreman Grill) in 1994. More recently, he competed on The Masked Singer as ‘Venus Fly Trap’ in 2022 and served as an executive producer on Big George Foreman, a 2023 Christian film based on his sporting and spiritual life.
