Secondary schools in Greater Manchester that 'require improvement', according to Ofsted

Schools across Greater Manchester are scrutinsed by Ofsted on a regular basis

Ofsted is the governing inspections body that visits schools across the country to make sure they are withholding standards. Educational establishments around Greater Manchester receive regular inspections and whilst some are deemed to be ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’, others have scope to improve.

According to the Ofsted website, there are five schools around the region that were given a rating of ‘requires improvement’ during their last inspection. Schools are given a report and within this, different aspects of each facility is given a grading.

These categories are the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management. At the top of each report is also what the school received for their last Ofsted inspection.

For example, Cedar Mount Academy in Gorton was rated ‘Good’ for all categories other than quality of education. For this, it received ‘Requires Improvement’.

All of the Greater Manchester schools with this same rating can be found in our gallery. To look up the full reports of each school, visit the Ofsted website.
