If you’ve spotted the massive projections in Manchester city centre, here’s the reason why they were there.

Manchester band The Courteeners lit up parts of the city centre with giant billboards promoting their homecoming gig.

The projections started popping up in the city centre on Wednesday night, ahead of tickets being released on pre-sale yesterday and general sale today (2 September).

The Middleton-formed band projected the cover of their iconic albukm St Jude which is being re-released in January to mark its 15th anniversary.

They will play the record in full at a huge homecoming concert in Heaton Park on 9 June next year.
