A tearful mum bagged a huge lottery win then said it was a gift from her late baby son in heaven.

Kelly Rushton, 42, sobbed uncontrollably after winning £90,909 on People’s Postcode Lottery - sharing a £1million jackpot with eight neighbours. But the mum-of-five believes it is the third gift this year from her son Reggie, who passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in December 2012 aged six weeks and four days.

Kelly, of Hyde, said: “My boy is shining down from heaven. He has sent me three blessings this year - meeting my partner, expecting a grandson and now this. Thank you, son!

“I have always believed that he is looking down on me. Good things come in threes, and this is the final gift from my son this year.”

The former care home worker shared the £1m jackpot with eight neighbours after SK14 4PU was revealed as the winner of Postcode Lottery’s weekly Millionaire Street £1m prize on Saturday.

Each ticket picked up £90,909, but one couple doubled their winnings with two tickets. And another couple picked up a cheque each with separate briefs.

Now Kelly plans to buy the rented terrace home the family have lived in for 13 years.

She said: “This house is where I lost my son and I never wanted to leave it. Now I can buy it. This has absolutely made my dreams come true. I wanted to buy this house so bad, so bad. Now my kids can have something for when I’m not here any more.

"There are three nines in the amount I’ve won and someone needs to phone me an ambulance. It changes my life completely. Not just for me, but for my kids.”

Kelly and partner Anthony Barker, 50 – who met on a dating site earlier this year - dashed home for the day from their caravan holiday in Prestatyn, North Wales, to pick up the cheque. They were planning to return immediately to the holiday park to break the news to Kelly’s kids, including eldest daughter Cobie who is expecting a boy on Christmas Day.

Kelly said: “I thought it was going to be £1,001 and that would do Christmas.

“I’m a happy and emotional wreck…over the moon, the stars and back again.”

There was a shock for HGV driver Anthony when Kelly blurted out that they could get married next year – because he was planning a surprise proposal himself during a trip to New York in November.

Anthony said: “We’re going to New York in November, and I was going to propose at the bottom of the Rockefeller Centre Christmas tree. But at least I know what her answer will be now!”
