Metrolink tram services resume in Manchester after power outage but with limited services on some lines

Metrolink says the disruption has eased following the outage on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

TFGM has said limited services are now operating on the Airport, East Didsbury and Altrincham lines, following a power outage.

In an update issued on Wednesday at 3pm, the travel body warned that there continues to be some disruption on the affected Metrolink lines and tickets are still being accepted on bus and rail services.

The problem first struck on Tuesday evening, with football fans tweeting their frustration at the impact on travel to and from Old Trafford, and it persisted into Wednesday, causing issues for morning commuters.

Travellers are advised to check the TFGM website here for updates throughout the day before they make a journey.
