Met Office: weather warning issued for Manchester as heavy rain set to hit region

Manchester is set to be hit by heavy rain on Tuesday, so much so that a weather warning has been issued by the Met Office. The yellow warning for rain came into effect at 6am.

A day of heavy rain is on the cards for Manchester and the warning is set to be in place until at least 8pm on Tuesday. Rain could be on the cards for some until around 10pm.

The heavy rain of the morning will stick around and according to the Met Office there could be a 90 per cent chance of the wet stuff almost all day. There may be a brief respite in the afternoon, but the heavy rain will return in the evening.

Despite the wet conditions, temperatures could remain in double figures until the evening. Temperatures could peak at around 12C in the early evening.

Looking ahead for the rest of the week, the rain could be on the forecast until Thursday. The break from the rain should come on Friday and a drier and brighter weekend could be on the cards.

Becoming chilly overnight as the persistent rain clears to the east. Blustery showers and clear spells for the rest of the night. Coastal gales easing but staying windy. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Feeling cool with blustery showers and sunny spells, showers heavy at times. Strong winds throughout. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Further persistent rain on Thursday, this clearing during the afternoon to sunshine and showers. Cooler on Friday and Saturday with blustery showers continuing. Strong winds throughout.
