It might be time to start planning your summer outfits as the weather continues to get nicer this week.

The Met Office says the week ahead will be dry and sunny and that temperatures are expected to rise to the high teens for most areas.

The settled and warm weather will continue for the rest of the week with plenty of sunny spells for all areas across the region, with winds remaining light.

A spokesperson from the Met Office said: “Temperatures could in the odd area reach 19-20 C tomorrow (22 March), but 16-18 C will be quite widespread.

“The high pressure to the east of the UK is bringing warm air in a southerly drift across the UK.

“The jet stream also well to the north, so at the moment it’s keeping the properly cold Arctic air well at bay.”

Whilst it will be warm in the day chilly nights are in store with the chance of some patchy frost.

This week’s mini ‘heat wave’ is just a glimpse of what is expected to reach the UK in April.
