I went to meet the iconic Mr Sifter and found an Oasis legend still going strong 30 years on

Made famous by Oasis song Shakermaker, Mr Sifter has been selling songs for a long, long time, and he is still going now.

Peter Howard is the original Mr Sifter, and, as the song suggests, the Gallaghers would occasionally frequent his store, Sifters, to purchase records. Sifters is still operating in Burnage and Peter is still the man behind the counter, ready to greet anyone and everyone with a big smile and a heart full of love for music.

I went down to the shop to talk to him about how the impending Oasis reunion tour has affected business, and how he views that verse now, and what I found, through the gaggle of tourists and Oasis fans who have turned Sifters into a pilgrimage site, was a man who has the ability to bring a smile to the face of anyone he meets. A music lover who knows that his legacy will be that song, and that band, and simply finds it pretty cool.
