The Manchester Uber driver with more 5-star ratings than any other

Michael Quinn has racked up a whopping 67,000 journeys in his Uber to be named the highest-rated Uber driver in the UK.

An Uber driver who ferries passengers around Manchester has been named the firm’s best driver in the UK.

Michael Quinn, 73, has worked for the ride hailing service for more than seven years and has racked up has the most five-star ratings out all their UK cabbies. Michael, who lives near Manchester city centre, has even completed an incredible 67,000 journeys in his time with Uber. And one of his recent satisfied passengers was an university student who he rushed to hospital with a suspected heart attack.

Michael got the student into A&E and kept him calm til help arrived. Michael, who was born in Liverpool, has since been awarded an Uber Hero Award, for his work with the company and for providing excellent customer excellent service. He won the accolade ahead of around 85,000 drivers across the UK.

Michael said: “You’re meeting people from all walks of life - different ages, different backgrounds, all with hopes and dreams in their lives and aspirations and worries and anxieties. “It’s marvellous to get feedback from complete strangers with you for such a short time and yet you’re able to enhance their day in that moment of meeting them.

“I get comments like, ‘Thank you, Michael, for getting me to the train on time,’ and ‘Yes, you are the best driver in the city!’ It’s a great profession.”

Michael says he completes about 200 trips a week in his car and says the most important things for cabbies is to give a good first and last impression to passengers.

Uber this week also revealed its longest journey taken by a passenger – a six-hour, 438-kilometre trip from Heathrow Airport to Loch Lomond in Scotland.
