Miami Crispy’s Chorlton branch, on Manchester Road, has been forced to close by Manchester City Council. A ‘stop notice’ was posted on the chicken shop last week (August 23) which ‘prohibits the use of the premises as a hot food takeaway’ under planning permission powers.

At the time, council bosses said Miami Crispy did not have the ‘necessary planning permissions in place’ to operate and ‘the notice was issued to ensure the unauthorised business does not have a detrimental impact on the local area and residents – including increased noise, a large increase of people in the area, anti-social parking including blocking a cycle lane, and waste issues’.
Now, the authority says the issue has not been remedied in the intervening months. A spokesperson for said: “A stop notice and a planning enforcement notice have been issued against this premises in Chorlton due to its continued operation as a hot food takeaway without the required planning permission in place.
“Despite a long-running period of engagement with the owners of the premises they have failed to give the council assurances that it will not operate as a takeaway, or, make a planning application seeking permission that may allow them to operate in this way.

Miami Crispy responded to the notice by telling fans — who come from miles around to taste the spicy chicken burger which went viral on TikTok — they hope to re-open their second branch ‘soon’.
“We have received a stop notice from Manchester City Council which forces us to close,” a Miami Crispy spokesperson confirmed. “We are disappointed in the council’s actions and we are working hard on reopening as soon as possible.

It’s understood Miami Crispy’s first branch in Burnage is unaffected by the notice and remains open as usual.
