Works around the popular area of Manchester will take several months to complete.

Manchester city council has announced a programme of works on roads outside the city centre. The development is part of work taking place around the Ancoats area of Manchester.

Work started on May 13 on improvements to cycleways, pedestrian crossings, carriageways, footpaths, and traffic signals at the junction of Oldham Road with Poland Street and Radium Street. The council estimates the work will be completed in Autumn 2024.

Phase Five (phase length to be determined)

Full lane closures in both directions on Oldham Road overnight (on separate dates from each other). Signed diversions will be in place.

Councillor Tracey Rawlins, Executive Member for Environment and Transport said: “As part of our ongoing work across the city we are looking at ways to make journeys safer for all our residents and improve transport links along key transport arteries. The Oldham Road corridor is an extremely busy and well-used stretch of road, providing a link to Ancoats and the city centre, which is why it’s important that this work takes place. Updates will be provided as the work progresses, and as always I’d advise people to plan their journey in advance to make sure any disruption can be minimised.”
