Manchester ranked as one of the UK’s most desired cities to live in - do local people agree?

Manchester has been listed as one of the top three most desired cities to live in the UK according to the insurance comparison site Comparethemarket. The list ranks Manchester as the second most desired place to live in the UK, with London coming in first.

But what do local people think about this? ManchesterWorld went into the city centre to ask why people think the city has been ranked so highly and what they love most about living here.

And residents had to plenty to say, with people highlighting the amount of things to do, the buzzing nightlife, cool areas of the city such as the Northern Quarter and the friendliness of locals as well as their warm welcome for newcomers as plus points for Manchester.

Comparethemarket has collected the top most desirable 10 cities using the number of Google searches made for each city from the period of December 2021 to November 2022. The searches specifically relate to living and moving to certain locations in the UK.
